Privacy policy
How we handle personal data, and your rights under the GDPR.
Who we are
Modern Debt International, registered in Belgium under company number 0797.634.265, is responsible for the processing of personal data described here. You can reach us at info@modern-debt.com or +32 8001 3339.
Personal data we process
- Debtors: name, company, contact details, details of the claim and payments, and our correspondence with you. We receive this from the creditor who assigned the claim to us, from public sources and from you.
- Clients and their contacts: names, business contact details and the information needed to manage our agreement and the cases you assign.
- Website visitors: what you send through our contact and trial forms, and basic technical data needed to deliver the website securely.
Why we process it
- to collect claims assigned to us, on the basis of the creditor's and our legitimate interest in recovering what is owed;
- to perform our agreements with clients;
- to answer your questions and trial requests;
- to comply with legal obligations, such as accounting and tax rules.
Who we share it with
Only where necessary: the creditor who assigned the claim, local partner agencies and law firms that help collect it (also outside the EU, with appropriate safeguards), our payment provider, and IT service providers who process data on our behalf. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data for as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, and after that only as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, ask us to restrict its processing, object to it, or ask for a copy in a portable format. Email info@modern-debt.com. Some rights may be limited while a claim is outstanding. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
